Carrie Prejean

So I just found out that Carrie Prejean who was Miss California and now Miss. USA is the subject of lots of gossip!  Some pictures of her with out a shirt on have surfaced and it’s causing lots of drama! These pictures were taken after she turned 18, so they were legal and she was not Miss Califorinia or USA when she had them taken, but many people think she shouldn’t be able to be Miss USA now.  I agree; many young girls look up and admire Carrie and what is she teaching them if she runs around with naughty pictures of herself!! I think she should step down, it would she people that she is sorry and knows it was the wrong thing to do.

Watch out for that train, man!

I was driving to work the other morning and I was on the freeway.  Every morning I take this same route and before my exit is a bridge just for trains to pass over the road.  It’s a thin bridge only 1 track is on it.  Rarely do I see a train going across at that time of the morning, but it has happened.

Well that particular morning there was a man walking across that bridge.  I was kinda watching him as I inched along in traffic.  As he got about 1/4th of the way across, I see him turn his head quickly and look back.  Immediately after that, he whips his head back forward and starts running like a mad-man.

I am passing under him as this is happening and of course I continue to watch him in my rear view mirrors to see the outcome… JUST as he passes the bridge, he jumps to the side and continues running in the snow and that is when I see the train start to cross the tracks…. and it’s not moving slowly.

I had myself a little chuckle as I thought “THAT guy will never do THAT again!”

Mountains

I just got back from Arizona yesterday and I had a window seat on the way there and on the way back.

Now, I have flown to Arizona a TON of times throughout my life and most of those times I was not in the window seat (or I didn’t appreciate what I was seeing).  This time I really paid attention.  We were coming up on the Rockies and it looked like his huge wall of beauty and that once you hit the wall, you’d be passing it by… BUT once we DID fly over that wall, the layout was breathtaking!

It continues on for what feels like FOREVER as you gaze our your window.  Highs and lows and plateaus.  Man, I have never seen anything so beautiful.

States

My son is in 2nd grade at a private school.  I am amazing at the stuff he is learning and what he already knows.  They give us progress reports and he is reading at 120 words a minute… wow, I wonder how I compare to that.

Yesterday, we had to study for this states test.  This year they are learning the names of the states and where they are located.  Apparently they have done 22 of the states so far and as we were studying last night, I was testing him with the sheet they sent home.

He was guessing on some of them, he knew most, but when it got over to the AZ, NM, CO, UT, WY and MT states, I was thouroughly confused!  I am a visual learner, so I associate things with sight.  So if you notice, all those states are pretty much little squares, so I get easily confused!

Idaho, Texas, California, Florida - those are easy to remember because they are shaped funny!

Now I’m concerned about when we get to the east coast!!!  Guess I’m not smarter than a 2nd grader!

Bedtime Stories

I will fully admit, i LOVE Adam Sandler.  Just seems like the kind of person I’d get along with famously.  So when I saw he had a new movie coming out, obviously I wanted to see it.  I know people say some of his movies are somewhat the same, but I don’t care, I love them anyway.

My husband, 8 year old son and I went to see this on Friday.  Nyk and I thought it was pretty funny and enjoyed it!  But my son, who is just a goof ball, giggled thru the whole thing.  Just belly laughed, sometimes not breathing.  He was SO loud and to top it off there weren’t very many people in the theater with us and one guy kept looking back and laughing at us.

His laughter was infectious and everyone had a ball listening to him.

I recommend seeing the movie if you need a good giggle and the kids in it are SO cute!!
