Peanut Butter

I’m sure you all have heard about the peanut butter recall that has been going on. Apparently peanut butter that has been sold in Minnesota and Connecticut are infected with Salmonella.  I haven’t bought any peanut butter since I heard the news on these but last night I was craving peanut butter for some reason so I went to the store adn bought some! Now I’m nervous that I might get sick lol! But oh well it was wonderful peasnut butter!!! Here’s a little more about the outbreak…

Peanut butter is sold by PCA in bulk containers ranging in size from five (5) to 1,700 pounds.  The peanut paste is sold in sizes ranging from 35-pound containers to product sold by the tanker container.  Neither of these products is sold directly to consumers.

However, through its investigation, FDA has determined that PCA distributed potentially contaminated product to more than 70 consignee firms, for use as an ingredient in hundreds of different products, such as cookies, crackers, cereal, candy and ice cream. FDA’s report on its inspection of the PCA facility is available at this link: http://www.fda.gov/ora/frequent/default.htm. Companies all over the country that received product from PCA have issued voluntary recalls of their products.  FDA has created a searchable database for these products, which can be found at http://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/peanutbutterrecall/index.cfm, Identification of products subject to recall is continuing and this list is updated frequently.

Product recalls now include some pet food products that contain peanut paste that was made by PCA. While the risk of animals contracting salmonellosis is minimal, there is risk to humans from handling these products. It is important for people to wash their hands–and make sure children wash their hands–before and, especially, after feeding treats to pets. Further information for consumers is located in the Frequently Asked Questions section located on this web site. The pet food products are also included in the searchable data base of recalled products.

Casino Weekend

My girl friends and I have a girls night month and our guys are starting to feel alittle bit left out! So we decieded this month that we would do something alittle bit different and go on a couples weekend! I am really looking forward to this weekend away we decieded it would be fun to go to a Casino Resort for the weekend where there is going to be something for everyone to do. I am hoping that I have better luck playing Black Jack than I did a couple of weeks ago at Cantanberry (they took all our money!) I am a bit nervous just because none of the guys really know each other but I think they will all get along really well playing games over the weekend. My boyfriend can be alittle shy but there are a few bars so that should help! This is also going to be our way of celebrating valentines Day which to me will be way more fun than just going out to a fancy dinner.  Hope everyone has a fun valentines Day and that we can leave with a little extra money!!!

States

My son is in 2nd grade at a private school.  I am amazing at the stuff he is learning and what he already knows.  They give us progress reports and he is reading at 120 words a minute… wow, I wonder how I compare to that.

Yesterday, we had to study for this states test.  This year they are learning the names of the states and where they are located.  Apparently they have done 22 of the states so far and as we were studying last night, I was testing him with the sheet they sent home.

He was guessing on some of them, he knew most, but when it got over to the AZ, NM, CO, UT, WY and MT states, I was thouroughly confused!  I am a visual learner, so I associate things with sight.  So if you notice, all those states are pretty much little squares, so I get easily confused!

Idaho, Texas, California, Florida - those are easy to remember because they are shaped funny!

Now I’m concerned about when we get to the east coast!!!  Guess I’m not smarter than a 2nd grader!

The Breast Cancer 3 Day

This past september, my best friend and I participated in The Breast Cancer 3 Day in the Twin Cities. It was our first time, it took a lot out of both of us, but we plan on doing it again. It was one of the most moving experience we have ever done. Walking mile after mile in a sea of pink, it’s just moving to watch thousands of people walking to help end breast cancer. Something that will touch someones life at one point or another. For me, it touched me personally, my mom passed away from Breast Cancer December 12 2007 after battling Breast Cancer for close to 4 years. Katie and I decided to the event in memory of her, the two of us trecked out to raise the required $2200 to participate in the event, and to train to walk the 60 miles. Unfortunatly we didn’t train enough and we only walked about 30, but for the two of us that was a HUGE accomplishment, and we met some amazing ladies on this event. Now we have planned to take part in this event again this year but in a much larger group in Hopes that we can make the entire 60 miles. It will be tough, but knowing what we know now, I know that we can do it. Here is a video from The Closing Ceremonies from this past walk, taken place at The Capitol. Such an emotional experience, I think everyone should take part in this wonderful event.

Bedtime Stories

I will fully admit, i LOVE Adam Sandler.  Just seems like the kind of person I’d get along with famously.  So when I saw he had a new movie coming out, obviously I wanted to see it.  I know people say some of his movies are somewhat the same, but I don’t care, I love them anyway.

My husband, 8 year old son and I went to see this on Friday.  Nyk and I thought it was pretty funny and enjoyed it!  But my son, who is just a goof ball, giggled thru the whole thing.  Just belly laughed, sometimes not breathing.  He was SO loud and to top it off there weren’t very many people in the theater with us and one guy kept looking back and laughing at us.

His laughter was infectious and everyone had a ball listening to him.

I recommend seeing the movie if you need a good giggle and the kids in it are SO cute!!
